Use it or Lose it!

Amazon is the wild west of internet markets. A global titan of marketing and sales that has revolutionized the industry. However, unlike its namesake, Amazon is not here to provide us with breathable air. As with any corporation, Amazon is here to generate cold hard revenue. It doesn’t care if profit comes at the expense of the customer positive policies. Hence, despite years of record sales, stock price increases, and an insane amount of variables (quarantine, pandemic, etc.) working in its favor, it stopped offering post-purchase price adjustments.

What kind of anti-consumer nonsense is that? Seriously, Amazon’s owner is the…

It’s safe to say the novel Corona Virus has changed the course of the Navy. From captains losing their posts to travel restrictions and even class cancellations, it’s safe to say that 2020 was full of growing pains. But, no growth has hit the Navy harder than their never-ending battle against their ever-expanding waistlines. Indeed, with movement restrictions and gyms being closed, sailors now more than ever are struggling to keep their midsections from blocking the view of their “feet.”

Yet, the Navy is no stranger to expanded girths. After all, the only thing bigger than a chief’s belly is…

The Navy’s cuisine is recognized worldwide for its stellar nutrition and quality. Feeding its sailors nothing short of the best food available at sea, it’s no surprise the USS Nimitz earned the 2020 Captain Edward F. Ney Memorial Food Service Award. A distinction reserved only for those who display outstanding levels of cleanliness, quality, and service. However, their recent notoriety has gained them some unwanted attention in the form of Gordon Ramsay. Indeed, the esteemed master chef/writer/reality-tv star set his sights on what would become his biggest challenge yet, The USS Nimitz. However, little did chef Ramsay foresee the events…

It’s hard to believe how far humans have come along. From those first steps out of the primordial ooze to eventually reaching the moon, it’s incredible to see how humanity has developed. Which begs the question, how are we still caught up in our tribalistic behavior? How have some people not evolved past seeing the color of their skin? And why is it that we still tolerate people who discriminate against others for their racial traits? More importantly, why do we ignore the racist institutions and systemic racism that permeates our country? …

Planet Earth is host to six million known parasitic organisms living within its realm. Yet, these bloodsucking, nutrient-depriving, mind-controlling, and often deadly organisms pale by comparison to human beings. After all, we exploit our home planet of resources in the name of unbridled capitalism with the hopes that we can migrate to another planet when the ecosystem inevitably fails. Yet, there is a subset of human beings who are probably the worst of the lot. Which subset is that you ask? The hardcore fanatics that exist in every fandom, of course! …

Laughing, smiling, sharing experiences, and growing closer as a family sounds so enticing, especially to those coming from toxic families. Growing up on a diet of television and movies meant constant exposure to those elements. Yet, what can a young developing mind do in this scenario?

Dreaming of the perfect family, an illusion brought about by a constant barrage of films and television on an impressionable soul. Raining facades of caring families cherishing and loving one another. Failing to realize, they’re all lies fabricated in a studio built on lies and deceit. …

Fumbling my way through the folly of youth, I found myself constantly making mistakes. By seeking the approval of individuals who didn’t matter, I hurt the people closest to me without remorse. Little did I know that these mistakes would eventually come back to haunt me, and karma, well she was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. But, in my path for forgiveness, I failed to realize what was happening around me. To witness how my actions became unforgivable to those I loved.

Throughout my life, I have stolen, cheated, lied, betrayed, and hurt others (inadvertently, or otherwise)…

Quietly contemplating the horror of losing the bond I so deeply share with my child, I peer into the starry skies above the Pacific Ocean. Marveling in the beauty of the cosmos while deliberating about my own mortality, thoughts of him fill my mind.

After all of my military experience, nothing else in this world terrifies my soul more than the fear of being hated by my son. …

“Love your parents, they gave life to you”. “Quit talking that way about your mother, you know she loves you”. Words uttered with a twinge of sadness by my grandmother, as I argued about my mother’s toxic influence in our lives. The one person that I trusted to protect me in my family was encouraging me to conceal my true feelings through religious and moral arguments.

How could she expect me to pretend to love someone that manages to give me reasons to grief and worry?

But, as her words echoed through my mind, I wondered to myself… how many…

Zombies, Lickers, Mr. X, and a plethora of other nightmares haunt the empty hallways of the Raccoon City Police Department (RCPD). But, these horrors pale in comparison to Chief of Police Brian Irons, the psychotic taxidermist secretly working for Umbrella. Under his rule, the police forces in Raccoon City were forced to take ludicrous measures to protect their cache of weapons and munitions. Strangely, the officers in the precinct simply followed his instructions with no indications of concern of dissent of any sort. But, is this a logical response from people trained to handle hostile situations on a semi-regular basis…
